Finally a real solution to the traffic problems in Panama
With little fanfare and press, one of the biggest headaches of living in Panama just received a pill. A European company has been awarded a contract to implement 130 traffic control systems (STOP LIGHTS) in crucial areas of the city. Now what will they do with all the traffic cops that do such a great job of screwing up traffic flow? They can now concentrate on giving out tickets in order to pay the 14 million Euro project. I just hope it does not take the 9 years allowed to implement the project.
The Madrid firm, Abengoa SA's IT unit Telvent (NASDAQ:TLVT) GIT SA said it has won a nine-year concession to construct and manage a traffic control system in Panama City worth 14 mln eur.
In a statement, Telvent said
it will implement an Intelligent Traffic Adaptive Control Agent (ITACA)
system in the city in 130 crossings, which will be controlled and
operated from a single traffic control centre.
