Panama, for a touch of the exotic
A fortnight discovering one of Central America’s best-kept secrets is among the highlights of this year’s programme for young, independent trail-blazers with STA Travel, the student and budget travel specialists.
The Panama Experience, which is currently available, offers visitors the chance to explore the canal and vibrant nightlife of Panama City before heading to the mountain retreat of Boquete, where white-water rafting and hiking await. The tour moves on to the Bocas del Toro archipelago for snorkelling and bird-watching and then crosses into Costa Rica for relaxation on the beach.
The trip costs from £235 with internal travel and simple accommodation plus a further payment of £120 on arrival for activities. It can be booked as part of a gap year or as a one-off, with flights to Panama from Heath-row costing from £650 return.
