Presenting the Cooking Diva

Chefm_2_2 We are very proud and most fortunate to have a renowned new executive Chef for our restaurants, Melissa De Leon. As most of you know, we have been working the past year on improving the food and beverage operation of our resort as we believe this to be one of the most important part of a successful resort business. Last year we made significant improvements in our decor and menu, and now, we take it up a notch, a really big notch!

Melissa has an extensive resume as a professional chef and she excels in creating art that you can eat. Not only is it pleasing to the eye and taste buds, it is also good for your health. As many of you know, I am committed to producing healthy eating in our restaurants, and with Melissa's help, I know we can accomplish this goal of enjoying wonderful healthy cuisine without sacrificing flavor. She spent 4 years in San Fransisco running a business of supplying healthy cuisine for home delivery for people with special dietary requirements. Melissa really understands how to make healthy delicious food.
Now, having worked in various parts of the world, she has returned to her country of birth and now we will have the pleasure of her culinary skills right here in Valle Escondido.

Not only is Melissa a fantastic chef, but she is also a fellow blogger. Her blog, The Cooking Diva is widely read and she shares with her readers the wonderful flavors and recipes that can be found in Latin American dishes. What makes this even better for all us gringo's is it is in English, which  gives her a wide audience of North Americans looking for great Latin recipies.

In the short few weeks Melissa has been working with us we have experienced  a number of her special dishes and she will be adding these and many others to her new menus for both our restaurants. She is very particular about the ingredients and does her own shopping for the restaurant in order to assure quality and freshness. She has been busy visiting all of the suppliers and locating fresh herbs and vegetables for her kitchen. Within the next week you will be able to enjoy a completely new menu at the Higueron which will include a number of delicious salads, soups and wraps. Within a two weeks she will be serving a menu at Sabor that will surpass any you will find in Panama city's finest eateries!

Melissa will make her debut this Sunday, June 15th, at the Sabor Escondido's special fathers day dinner. I hope you will take the opportunity to meet Melissa and enjoy her wonderful art. I know you will really enjoy what awaits you.
