Many of you are probably not aware that several expats have taken it upon themselves to provide weather information from various sites in the Boquete area. They have sophisticated instrumentation connected to the internet that provides up to the minute real time weather along with historic data. Here is a notice I received yesterday about their system.
Dear Boquete Weather Watchers:
Our internet service was down more than it was up last month, but today we got back online and the website is now functioning more normally. Things should now be back to normal and the weather data from Palmira/Boquete is again uploading every few minutes. I apologize for this interruption of weather data, but believe it or not, life in Paradise is not always perfect, especially when it comes to high tech stuff. Fortunately, all other aspects of the web site continued to operate because the host server is in Arizona.
Regardless of the problems with the internet service, no data from the weather station was lost so we will not have any gaps in data for the year.
I have now summarized the weather data for the month of April 2008 and revised the climate data section of the web site. You can now see all the weather data for 2007 and 2008 from the Palmira station on the same web page and more easily make month by month comparisons http://www.boqueteweather.com/climate/data_annual.htm
You will note that we had significantly less rain in April 2008 (3.58 inches) compared with April of 2007 (11.65 inches). In fact, 8 inches less rain. It will be interesting to see what happens with rain during May as we now seem to be more solidly moving into the rainy season. Get your umbrellas out!
Best,
Lloyd Cripe
