On October 22, 2008 VEHOA held an Open Meeting to discuss the current issues. Since many of our homeowners do not live in Valle Escondido full time, we felt that it would be best to record this meeting so that all homeowners could have the same information. Due to technical difficulties, the first 15 minutes of the meeting were not recorded.
There were 3 main topics of discussion during that time.
First, Steering Committee President welcomed everybody an spoke briefly about electricity, reiterating that this is a utility provided to homeowners by the developer and is therefore currently outside the control the HOA.
Second, Steering Committee member Jim Maffitt discussed upkeep of the common areas. In regard to many recent landslides, he informed the audience that we secure firm quotes before work can be done which in turn delays some cleanup. Homeowners near the most recent slide expressed there desire for clean-up to be postponed until the end of rainy season to give the earth time to settle. The developer, Sam Taliferro, said he could perform clean-up on the slides more immediately but said he would not provide firm quotes prior to completing the work.
Thirds, Steering Committee member Newton Osborne discussed security issues. There were some break ins in early May and security has spotted and chased of intruders on VE property numerous times in the past few months. To help alleviate this problem, the developer constructed a fence with razor wire that runs from the guards’ gate to the river on the left as you enter the valley. Further, Newton expressed the importance of homeowners securing all doors and windows prior to leaving their properties. The Steering Committee is exploring other alternatives for more security. This is what is being discussed as the audio picks up 15 minutes into the meeting.
We hope this recording in helpful in keeping all homeowners involved in the daily issues of the Homeowners Association. Please feel free to email us any questions, suggestions or concerns to vehoasc@gmail.com.
