General Assembly of Members

On March 27, 2007 VEHOA held the first ever General Assembly of Members.  This was a great meeting and had a turn out of about 44 people representing homeowners from all parts of the Valle.  Since many of our homeowners do not live in Valle Escondido full time, we felt that it would be best to record this meeting so that all homeowners could have the same information.

This was our first meeting and we learned a lot.  We set up a digital recorder with two microphones, one for the Steering Committee and one for the assigned speaker.  We now know that next time we need a public address system as the room acoustics were not great.  We also know that we can tie this PA system into the digital recorder and produce a better audio file.  With that said I am sure you will find the recording very interesting and helpful as the Steering Committee answered numerous questions.  When the meeting moves to the open question and answer phase you will need to turn your volume way up to hear the question, but will need to turn it down when the Committee answers as our microphones worked perfectly.

3.  A window will pop up and you can choose where to put the file, I put mine on the Desktop so it is easily found.
4.  The file is large it will take 15-20 minutes depending on your connection speed.
5.  When the file is completed and on your computer you can go to the Desktop (or where ever you put the file) and double click the file, your computer's audio/MP3 software will open the file and begin playing.

Some homeowners associations are voluntary. Others don't give you a choice — join or stay out.

Whatever the conditions, most people will, at one time or another, likely participate in an association, either in a condo, gated community or a self-contained subdivision.

The Community Associations Institute estimates that there are 57 million residents in more than 23 million housing units that are governed by some kind of association.

Frank Rathbun, vice president of communications and public relations for the institute, said the concept took off in the late '60s and into the '70s.

And money was the reason.

Heavy rains October 16th

After nearly a month with no rain we received about 6 inches in less than one afternoon this week.  This inundation caused some damage due to improper control of water from the various homes under construction in Baru Vista. We have sent out notices again to the contractors on these homes sites to take precautions such as hay bales and storage  of sand and gravel under plastic tarpaulins.
The fire department chief inspected the various problems and made a report that will be given to the municipal engineer who will issue citations to the various contractors. You can view a photo album of photos taken during the storm here.
